Slacking

*Slaps wrist*

I am a terrible blogger. 17 days and not a single post..
I'm not exactly sure what my excuse is, i think i'm just lazy and a little uninspired.. Still wanting to get my giveaway underway but just haven't got around to buying the goodies yet. (again lazy) i promise i will sort my life out soon and get the ball rolling..

I've been a tad engrossed in lifestyle posts recently and i realised that i follow very few "lifestyle blogs" as such. Don't get me wrong i love a beauty fix but at the moment i just fancy a bit of a different read. Can anybody recommend any blogs i can have a fresh trawl through?

---------

I'm currently a third of the way into 50 Shades Darker, some of you may have read my previous post about the first book here. Initially i was really gripped by the whole concept of the 50 Shades trilogy, it was really different and exciting and i threw myself into the book number 1. To begin with i loved it, however the more i read the more i am beginning to dislike the writing style of E. L. James. She's quite repetitive and i'm beginning to roll my eyes at almost every page. (eye rolling eh, Christian himself would have a fit) .. you fellow readers will understand that one! ;)

I am still determined to finish the books.. partly because i paid about 12 quid for them, so i want my money's worth! haha. But i'm also hoping Miss James can redeem herself a little and i will end up a little more satisfied when i've finished. I have to admit i am enjoying this one far more than the first, the story seems to be unfolding a little better.

In other news i am 100% heading towards full scale depression about my lack of holiday-ing this summer. Working on a temporary contract means i don't get my proper jollies until October, but taking people on theirs everyday is making me want to cry! Everyone necking drinks, in their sunhats, cheering when the captain announces the temperature.. I get a quick peek at the sunshine for about an hour before i close up the doors and i'm back in the sky :( Don't get me wrong, i adore my job.. but i'd adore a holiday too!

Still loving reading everyones holiday related posts though. You all keep nudging me on shopping spree's with your outfit posts. I blame the lot of you for my dwindling bank balance!

Hope everyone is having a nice summer so far despite the british weather

50 Shades Of Grey

If you haven't heard of 50 Shades Of Grey, or it's accompanying counterparts 50 Shades Darker and 50 Shades Freed .. What rock have you been hiding under?! and more importantly.. do you have an Amazon account? Because i assure you you'll be tapping in your card details soon enough to get your hands on a copy.

This trilogy, but in particular the first book is by far the biggest topic of conversation amongst women at the moment. Females across the country (and it appears globe) have gone absolutely crazy for a little known character by the name of Christian Grey.. Oooh, even typing his name slightly does it for me!

Now, when i first caught wind of this book i was sat at work casually minding my own business filling out some paperwork and attending to other generally boring "after flight duties" when all of a sudden two forty-something women began chatting away like a bunch of school girls on the very next table. Their conversation soon became far more interesting than what i was doing so i ended up listening to them banter on for a good 5 minutes..

"I told you didn't I"

"Oh my god. I couldn't put it down. I'm on page 95 already"

"I finished mine in two days"

"I'm just waiting for it to kick in i can't take the suspense"

"It's amazing isn't it. Just wait for Chapter _ your in for a treat"

"I'd definately trade my husband in for that man"

After hearing that line i was well and truly gripped by whatever the hell they were talking about so i caved, interupted and asked what on earth had got them so excited, and low and behold, they'd both been gripped by the wonders of Grey.

For anyone who still hasn't got the foggiest what this is about i will try and enlighten you.. it is, in the word's of the blurb a "Romantic, liberating and totally addictive novel" about a young student and a successful entrepreneur that embark on a passionate love affair..

I on the other hand would say it's pretty much just pure filth from about Chapter 7! ;)

That's right, this is a very VERY rude book.
Not for the faint hearted! (Although i have seen numerous pensioners reading this on the plane recently .. ew) It's totally gripping and despite the fact that the hype is largely over the explicit content i would say there is some amazing writing by the author E L James and a pretty good underlying story within it. I'm not sure what posessed me to write this post now, as i haven't actually finished the first book yet; i think i just wanted to express how enthralled i am by the whole thing, and what made me join the crowds to purchase myself a copy. I actually love how this has got everyone talking, and how someone such as myself, who usually wouldn't dream of letting anyone know i was reading such a book, is genuinely not at all embarassed or shy about it!

The taboo on this kind of literature has finally been broken.

I'd love to know if any of you have read this recently, or are planning on doing so and what your thoughts are on it? I personally am completely and utterly hooked!
