Cancun Part 1

So in my last post i promised i was going to write about my holiday to Mexico, & this is the part where i bombard you all with just a fraction of the hundreds of photo's i managed to take whilst i was away (i have a serious problem and sometimes people just need to take the camera OFF me! haha) I actually have so much to share that i'm going to split it over 2 or 3 posts so not to crash your computers with pictures ;)

I can honestly say that i had the best time of my life in Cancun, we tried to experience as much as we could whilst we were there and i think we succeeded in making some incredible memories. It's safe the say the holiday itself cost us an arm and a leg, and a few fingers and toes.. and it probably isn't somewhere that most 20 year old's go on their holidays but we saved really hard all year and it felt good to know that i'd paid for it all with hard work and determination.

So here we go..

So this is probably the only downside to this destination.. it's frigging ages away! Approximately a 10 hour flight from Manchester to Cancun although our lovely captain did manage to shave off some minutes, whilst avoiding Hurricaine Sandy at the same time - what a cool guy. I have to say i was slightly dreading the journey but we were pleasantly suprised at how comfortable we were. My 6'2 boyfriend had enough leg room that i didn't get any earache, the inflight entertainment was good and fussy old me actually ate the majority of the meal! So bravo Thomson, we were very impressed with your long haul!

To say the hotel was incredible would be an understatment.. it was out of this world! It's called the Riu Palce Peninsula and I took a bit of a risk booking this place as when i did it hadn't even finished being built! It opened in May so it's barely 6 months old, but i fell in love with the "planned appearance" shots on the internet and i definately wasn't dissapointed. It's so grand and beautiful that my jaw just dropped when the taxi pulled up outside. The design of this place is really modern and funky which suited me and Jay down to a ground because thats the style we love. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to an enormous room on the 11th floor that had the most amazing view of the ocean! I didn't want to come off the balcony at all. The bed was equally huge, as was the shower that could fit a whole football team in! And we even had a liqour dispensor on the wall which was completely free as part of our all inclusive, so minutes after arriving we were doing tequila shots - dangerous!! I couldn't recommend this hotel enough to anyone thinking of visiting Cancun.

The hotel complex outside was just as stunning. 4 massive swimming pools, one of which was a pool bar which i've never been in before so that was pretty exciting.. and surreal! Another was a huge infinity pool that looked out on to the beach, really really beautiful. We spent lots of time relaxing and trying all the different cocktails, and on the 3rd day or so we decided to have a go on the jet-ski's! Jay took to driving because i was far too scared, but this didn't stop him going at about 4746282 miles an hour haha! It was good fun though and i felt really carefree just bouncing across the ocean. Unfortunately we didn't get a pic on the actual jet ski so we settled for one in our sexy yellow lifejackets ;) so not my colour!

So we were actually away for Halloween and the hotel went to a lot of effort to get everyone in the spooky spirit! They had all these different Halloween themed foods that looked and tasted amazing! and they also put on a really good special show for everyone in the theatre. All the entertainment staff were dressed up for the occasion and it was so much fun! Some of you might recognise the dress i wore as it's the same one i purchased for Chester Races mentioned here, teamed it with my trusty H&M jacket :)

And i think i'll wrap the first post here! Hope it's not been too boring for you all :) Stay tuned for part 2!
